Disney Scrapbook Supplies – Sorting Your Supplies

What to do with your Disney Scrapbook Supplies?  Well choosing the right products to go with your Disney Scrapbook is a major part of the project. You will learn here how to creatively store all of those loose bits and we will provide a valuable strategy for mixing it up – arrange the lot by color.

Opened packets of embellishments can cause chaos with your organization. Look at storing your embellishment by color, by doing this you can assess then more easily. You can stockpile your embellishments by color in clear, A4 draws. Then if you need a certain color such as red for your Disney Scrapbook you can go to your red draw and have all your trimmings at hand to peruse.

Ribbons

So that your color sorted ribbons will not tangle try placing them in resealable bags. Resealable bags are an inexpensive way to control unruly ribbons that want to take over your storage area. Color code your ribbons as you would your trimmings.

Sorting Your Card Stock

When sorting by a color wheel all your colors will fall into one of these categories, reds, blues, yellows, greens, oranges, purples, browns and your black and white. Grab nine nice and clean pizza boxes and place the relevant color in one of the boxes. Remember to label the boxes and this will take our all the drama of cardstock storage. Even your smaller quantities will be easier to access with this system.

For really small off cuts, still ensure you color code in the same manner and then you can place these in a plastic page protector and put them in the box that is relevant.

A Disney Scrapbooking Idea

I have just come across this great YouTube video for a  Disney scrapbook idea that I had to share with you.

A lady has created this wonderful Disney Scrapbook that can be used for scrapbooking your Disneyland trip or even altered slightly and to create a special Disney Scrapbook to capture a special occasion such as a child’s life or even a mini birthday scrapbook.

The book is bound together with the traditional Mickey Mouse colors’ such as red, black and yellow. On the pages inside the book she has used a combination of Disney printed papers and everyday scrapbooking papers again staying with the traditional colors, with and without prints.

She has created the book so that each of the opposite pages has the same design and theme. When you look at the next set of pages the theme changes yet again, this I think creates interest in the pages. Pages of the entire book work well together as the intricate backgrounds sets the scene for the pictures to be placed on them and journaling to be added.

Little touches such as pockets have been added onto the side of the pages which are great to store little mementoes of the occasion so that they do not get lost. She has also created wonderful tags that can be added later onto the pages with journaling or photos.

If you are looking for your own Disney scrapbook ideas this YouTube is worth looking at for inspiration.

Tips For Your Disney Scrapbook Layout

Aging Paper For Your Disney Scrapbook Layouts

Having aged or weathered paper in any scrapbooking layout has become a popular technique for scrapbookers, these tips can be used on your Disney Scrapbook layout as well. There are quite a few ways you can make your cardstock or scrapbook papers appear “aged”.
Technique Number 1 – Scrunch dry paper into a ball to wrinkle it. For a bolder impression spray your paper lightly first. Once the paper has been scrunched unwrinkled the paper and let it dry and with a fine grained sand paper sand the inside. If you are using damp paper then you can iron the paper by covering it with towel and using the warmth from the iron to dry your paper. This method will set your wrinkles and give the paper a kind of “weathered” appearance.
Technique Number 2 - Sandpaper can be used alone to sand off some of the color on the paper, which will make it appear “old” remember to use a fine grade though otherwise you will easily tear your paper.
Technique Number 3 - Texturizing your paper with dry embossing or other methods and then sanding the images can also give that “old” image on your layouts.

Have A Page Focus On Your Disney Scrapbook Layout

Create a focal point on your Disney scrapbook page layout to give the eye someplace to begin looking on the page. Using the technique Rule Of Thirds will also help you with this process. If you are using more than three photos, the easiest method to generate a focus is to use a distinguishing title. For a classic result, mat the title to blend with the photograph mats.

Journaling vs Stickers On Your Disney Scrapbook

Until you have some practice with Disney scrapbook page layouts, always do your journaling before to attaching any stickers. While there are many nice trimmings out there, this will keep away the appeal to over-use stickers to load up all that empty space.

Disney Scrapbook Layouts – Journaling Step 2

Here are some tips on how you can add journaling to your Disney Scrapbook layouts:

  • When planning your Disney Scrapbook layouts always be sure to have sufficient space for your journaling.

·        Use less conventional methods – write in a circle around a picture picking up feelings or memories the picture gives you. Write on an angle across the page pointing to the picture associated with it

·        Doodle all over your page keeping your message simple and clean.

·        Write on your layouts in a list form or a heartfelt letter

Disney Scrapbook Layout – Journaling Beginner’s Steps Part 1

Adding journaling to your Disney scrapbook layouts need not be a daunting experience.

Well when I started to create my first scrapbook I thought that it seemed like a dreadful chore as I never knew what to write.

I learnt later on though that journaling is as important in the layout as the color scheme and design element.

Here are simple tips on how to start your journaling

  1. Always select acid-free, permanent, scrapbook pens in colors that synchronize with your Disney Scrapbook page.
  2. Start with the title on the page. Know remember the title does not need to go across the top of the page, it can go across the bottom, vertically along one side of the scrapbook paper or through the centre of the page. Keep the title simple, it could just include the date and the name of the event.
  3. After that, begin with the basics, in particular dates and full names of the people in the picture.
  4. Next, add a few basic pieces of information, describe where the events in the photos took place, or why the people in the pictures were there.
  5. If there is extra room on the page you can add some personal views, emotions, verse, or quotes.

Tips:

  1. The best thing that you can add to your Disney Scrapbook album would be personalizing it with your own handwriting, it adds an element of history to your album.
  2. To add a bit of pizzazz and fun  to the album add fun things to the page such as stickers or memorabilia from the occasion
  3. Finally, remember that your family’s story is the most vital part of preserving the past and the present for the future, don’t overlook it with a small number of words.
